Kian ‘over the moon’ at arrival of first child Koa

PROUD dad Kian Egan bounced into hospital to see his newborn son last night and declared: “We’re over the moon!”

Armed with a huge bunch of roses and two balloons, the Westlife singer was beaming with smiles as he arrived at Sligo General Hospital yesterday to see his wife Jodi Albert and their first child Koa.

The 31-year-old smiled and waved to visitors at the hospital as shouts of “well done” and “congratulations” rang out in the corridors.

News of the arrival came via Twitter on Tuesday when Mr Egan said:

“Our little baby boy ‘Koa’ was born today at 6.10pm. Jodi Albert is an amazing woman. Love them both so much. Both doing amazing, so proud. X.”

Fans of the singer and his wife, the former ‘Hollyoaks’ actress, inundated them with tweets congratulating them. And there will be plenty of room for Koa at the Egans’ home in Sligo — they’ve just completed a €150,000 renovation and extension project.

“Kian and Jodi are just amazed. They can’t believe they are parents. They are running on pure adrenaline at the moment,” said a friend.

“They had thought their baby son would arrive on Christmas Day. Now they’ll all be home in time to celebrate.”

Mr Egan went back on Twitter to thank his fans for all their good wishes.

“Wow, thanks guys. Amazing to see our little boy Koa is trending in the Uk! And he’s only a few hrs old!!!”

Mr Egan’s bandmates Mark Feehily, Shane Filan and Nicky Byrne were among the first to congratulate the star.

Mr Feehily tweeted: “Congratulations to my great friends Kian & Jodi on the birth of their first child Koa, a bouncing baby boy! Yey!”

Mr Byrne said: “Amazing News for @KianEganWL & @JodiAlbert_xxx Welcome to the world Koa! happiest days ever — & just in time for Santa too!” He signed it ‘NGRJ’, referring to his wife Georgina Ahern and their twin boys Rocco and Jay.

And Mr Filan added: “Delighted for Jodi, Kian and baby Koa Fantastic news!!! Congrats guys!!!!”

The couple chose the name for their new son from a book of names given to them by a friend. Koa is a traditional Hawaiian name, meaning ‘fearless’, ‘brave’ or ‘bold’.

It is understood the Egans are now pondering whether or not to accept a huge offer from a celebrity magazine for the first pictures of Koa.
