Westlife say goodbye to pop, by cuddling a giant panda
Westlife visited a giant panda breeding sanctuary in China on their farewell tour – and they actually got to cuddle one
(Are you a tiny bit disappointed the boyband in question isn’t One Direction? Don’t worry, it’s totally natural).
The four remaining members of Westlife (Brian McFadden, we’ll never forget you) are currently in China for their final ever tour and yesterday they visited the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, which meant they got to cuddle a tiny baby panda.
The boys (Kian, Nicky, Mark and Shane) announced in October last year that this tour would mark the end of their 14 years as a band. They are splitting amicably and going their separate ways.
Kian said, “We lived the dream so we’re not hanging our heads. We’re celebrating what we came from and what we achieved.”
Admit it Kian, everything you’d achieved before the panda moment paled into insignificance when you stroked his tiny bear foot, right?
The boys will be starting their UK leg of the tour in May. Their manager Louis Walsh paid tribute to the band saying, “Westlife were always the best four people I have ever worked with. I had a brilliant time working with them. It just goes to show how far you can get in this business with the right attitude.”
Hear that Brian? FOUR people. That’s awkward. Louis really should have said five and included the panda.
